VixShield Answer
At VixShield we structure our daily 1DTE SPX Iron Condor Command around three distinct risk tiers that allow traders to align position selection with their personal risk tolerance and account size. These tiers Conservative Balanced and Aggressive are built directly on Russell Clark's SPX Mastery methodology and are driven by the Expected Daily Range indicator combined with RSAi for precise strike placement. The Conservative tier targets a net credit of approximately 0.70 per contract and places the short strikes farther from the current SPX price producing an approximate 90 percent win rate or roughly 18 winning days out of every 20 trading days. This tier emphasizes capital preservation and is the only level currently eligible for PickMyTrade auto execution. The Balanced tier aims for a 1.15 credit by moving the short strikes closer to the expected move which increases both potential daily income and the probability of a breach. The Aggressive tier seeks a 1.60 credit with the tightest wings relative to EDR delivering the highest premium but also the greatest chance of touching a short strike during the session. All three tiers follow our Set and Forget approach with no stop losses and defined risk established at entry. Strike selection begins with the EDR formula that blends VIX9D and 20-day historical volatility to forecast the likely daily range. RSAi then refines those wings in real time by analyzing skew VWAP and short-term VIX momentum to match the exact credit target for the chosen tier. Positions are entered in the 15-minute window after the 3:09 PM CST SPX close which also serves as the After-Close PDT Shield. Position sizing remains consistent across tiers at a maximum of 10 percent of account balance per trade. When VIX is below 15 all tiers are available. Between 15 and 20 we limit to Conservative and Balanced. Above 20 we enter HOLD mode and rely on our ALVH Adaptive Layered VIX Hedge which layers short 30 DTE medium 110 DTE and long 220 DTE VIX calls in a 4/4/2 ratio. Should a position move against us the Temporal Theta Martingale and Theta Time Shift mechanics allow us to roll forward to 1-7 DTE on high EDR or VIX spikes then roll back on VWAP pullbacks to recover without adding capital. This system has demonstrated an 88 percent loss recovery rate in backtests from 2015 through 2025. All trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. 💬 Community Pulse
Community traders often approach tier selection by first assessing their recent win rate and drawdown tolerance. Many begin exclusively with the Conservative tier citing its high probability and alignment with steady income goals especially when first integrating ALVH protection. A common misconception is that the Aggressive tier always produces superior long-term returns. In practice experienced members note that consistent use of the Balanced tier frequently delivers the best risk-adjusted performance because it captures meaningful credit without overextending into high-gamma areas near the Expected Daily Range boundary. Discussions frequently highlight the importance of matching tier to current VIX regime with Conservative becoming the default when volatility rises above 15. Traders also emphasize the psychological benefit of the Set and Forget framework which removes the temptation to adjust or exit early. Overall the community views the tiered structure as one of the most practical elements of the VixShield system because it lets participants scale exposure methodically while still benefiting from RSAi strike optimization and Theta Time Shift recovery mechanics.
